WORSHIP

“Let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ.”

—Philippians 1:27

At Genesis Church, we believe that worship is more than simply singing songs when we come together corporately. Worship is the very thing we were created to do as human beings. It’s our purpose in life. Everything we do is to somehow give honor and glory to our Creator. Whether it be in our homes, workplaces, hobbies, or the relationships we have, we are to live lives that bring glory to God and honor Him. In other words, worship is a lifestyle.

When we gather together corporately for worship, we are simply celebrating what God has done for us in our individual moments of worship in a spirit of unity and togetherness. The worship music at Genesis Church is filled with passion and is expressive while remaining theologically sound. We mostly play modern songs that are being written and sung by our current generation but also include and value the timeless hymns and choruses that have been gifted to us from previous generations. Our corporate gatherings of worship also involve the public reading of Scripture, communion, biblical and Christ-centered preaching, intentional times to respond to God’s word, and times of ministry where we pray for emotional, spiritual, and physical healing.

HONOR

“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”

— Romans 12:10

We live in a culture that is highly critical and easily offended. People are filled with constant stress, anger, and anxiety. The popular understanding of truth has shifted from what is absolutely true to what is true for the individual. Because of all of these trends in our society, people treat each other with such contempt, indignation, hostility, and dishonor. The value of other individuals is often based on what they can do for us, how they make us feel, or how they agree with us.

At Genesis Church, we are committed to learning what it means to truly honor all people, showing no favoritism based on ethnicity, socio-economic background, or status. We practice the biblical way of honor, where we value and treat people based on who God created them to be and not according to how they may be acting. We do not cast aside people because of their sin or their behavior but speak life and value over all people because they were created by God, for God, and in His image. We are committed to being a people of honor.

COMMUNITY

“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

— Philippians 2:1-4

Community is not who we are, but rather, it is something we do and work towards. Life was not meant to be lived alone. This is why God said in the book of Genesis that it is not good for man to be alone. We believe it is only in healthy, life-giving community where deep relationships of trust and accountability can be formed. Authentic discipleship growth takes place in the midst of community.

At Genesis Church, we believe in doing life together and that we are better when we have friends and family that support us in our journey. This happens in many capacities. Whether it be through our Life Groups, one-on-one relationships, or in the fellowship time between and after services, you will find a groups of people at Genesis who are diverse, yet unified, and genuinely care about one another. We believe that community is about being on mission together, to seek the welfare of our neighbor and to improve the communities in which we live.
