Our vision for the children’s ministries at Genesis Church is to empower, equip, and activate our children to advance the Kingdom of God. It’s our heart’s desire that they know Jesus, encounter Him, love Him, and follow Him wholeheartedly. Children learn to know Him through the Word, they encounter His presence through worship and prayer, and they learn to follow and serve Him through a life surrendered. Our passion is to help each child discover that their true identity and destiny is found in Jesus Christ alone and to connect them with the Father’s heart so that they will serve Him all the days of their lives (Proverbs 22:6).
We impart the Word of God to the children by teaching with a multi-faceted approach where they are able to hear it, see it, say it, and do it. We create an environment where the Holy Spirit is welcome and the children are positioned to encounter His presence in a safe environment. Our nursery and childrens’ ministry workers are trained volunteers and have passed a background check.
Lastly, we seek opportunities to partner with parents and help them to pastor their own children during the formative years. We believe the daily ministry that happens at home is every bit as important, if not much more important than the ministry times at church. Ultimately, we want and encourage our kids to grow in the things of the Lord and increasingly take responsibility for their own spiritual growth.
Nursery (infants-age 4 – led by Jennifer Woodcock) – A nursery is provided during the 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM service each Sunday. We don’t consider time spent with the youngest members of our church body as babysitting, but rather as a time of ministry and imparting the love of God to our little ones! Our nursery workers are trained volunteers and have passed a background check. We ask that parents that have made Genesis their home church and use the nursery to please consider adding their names to the volunteer schedule.
Kids’ Church (ages 3-12) – At Genesis Church, we believe it is important that kids have an opportunity to worship and learn in a service specially designed just for them! Kids’ Church is held every Sunday during the 10:30 AM service. The kids worship with their parents in the main sanctuary at the beginning of the service, are prayed over and then dismissed to attend Kids’ Church in the church’s lower level. Parents are welcome to join their children whenever they wish.
After a time of worship, offering and announcements, our Little Arrows (ages 3 – Kindergarten) (led by Natasha Stogdill) are escorted across the hall to “The Woodland Room” and the older G3 Kids (1st – 6th grade) (led by Andy and Mary Beth King) stay in the Kids’ Church room for the remainder of the service. We use a multi-media approach for our Kids’ Church including praise and worship music, videos, drama skits, puppets, games, and interactive object lessons that all relate back to a Bible-based lesson. We want our kids to have fun (and they do!), but more importantly, they receive a greater understanding of Jesus Christ and who they are in Him.
G3 Kids’ Club (1st – 6th graders – led by Andy and Mary Beth King)
This is a time for our G3 Kids (our 3 “G”s stand for Godly, Growing and Going) to come together to build friendships, worship, pray, play, reinforce the Bible lesson we introduced on Sunday and discuss/memorize foundational scriptures. Wednesday nights also provide us an opportunity to conduct more hands-on activities, service projects, field trips, and to prepare for our annual Children’s Christmas Program. Our G3 Kids Choir meets at 6:30-7 on Wed.
Little Arrows Club (ages 3 – Kindergarten – led by Natasha Stogdill)
We are very excited to offer a Wednesday night Bible-based lesson and activities specifically structured for the preschool through kindergarten-aged children.
